This is an all-natural product developed by microbiologist Iichiroh Ohhira, Ph.D. and a team of distinguished research scientists from Okayama University.  This well-researched and tested product is produced from the careful blending of 92 vegetables, herbs, seaweeds, mushrooms, leaves, and fruits that are fermented and processed for up to five years using ancient Japanese formulas and high technology expertise.  The five-year natural temperature process creates a probiotic product containing 12 strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), including the E. faecalis  TH10 strain, which is 6.25 stronger than any other known LAB to bacteriologists.    The product contains naturally developed organic acids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS, a prebiotic), bacteriocins, enzymes, and hydrogen peroxide. 

The totally vegetarian, non-dairy, non-GMO, hypoallergenic, and bovine-free product is encapsulated in a soft enteric-coated capsule to ensure the integrity and storage stability of the contents by preventing oxidation and other forms of degradation.  It also preserves the ingredients from external microbiological contamination and eliminates the need for artificial preservatives and additives while protecting the ingredients from the corrosive action of the stomach's acids.  Each capsule is individually blister packaged to ensure optimum freshness ands product integrity.  The product has a 3-year shelf life; refrigeration is not required at ambient room temperatures.  Artificial additives, chemicals, preservatives, coloring, flavoring, and animal by-products are not used, nor are chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. 

The Professional Formula (see picture on this site, also known as the "Green Line") is significantly different from the Original Formula (a navy blue box, also known as the "Red Line") in that the Professional Formula is tweaked during the fifth year of processing to provide organic acids that are more robust than those contained in the Original Formula.  In addition, the potency of the micronutrient by-products is maximized to expedite the adhesion of the good bacteria in the colon.  The CFU of the LAB in the Original Formula equals 1.5 billion/gram, the CFU of the LAB in the Professional Formula may be less due to the natural variation in ingredients and a more complex manufacturing process.  Upon colonization the LAB strains will double themselves every 30 minutes for the first 8 hours.  [Note from Dr. Smith--While the Professional Formula does cost more than the Original Formula, the increase in potency and effectiveness is absolutely worth the expense!  The Professional Formula is only available to health care practitioners.]
